Inter has a strong chance but not Juve. We are starting a new cycle under Thiago Motta, it’s gonna take a bit of time before we can tough it out with the other giants in Europe.
Inter on the other hand have already proven that they are very good under Inzaghi. They almost defeated Man City and play really good football under him. So I wouldn’t be surprised if they make a deep run into the UCL again.
Next 20 years. Maybe. We are financially so far behind the EPL and the top European clubs it’s no contest.
It’s gonna happen sooner than people imagine
Yeah but only 7 teams have won it in the last 14 years and Italian teams reached the final in 3 of those.
Atalanta or Bologna 2024
This year trust in the fonseca ball
My guess is at least one time in the next 20 years, however if PL clubs and Real Madrid get weaker we might get more chances. Juve got a bit unlucky facing some of the best teams ever in the last decades, Man City was also no joke.
I feel like right now is a very important time in Inter’s cycle and the next 3 years we have the chance to be top European contenders and win the UCL it’s all about grasping our opportunities. Juve and Milan are in the beginning of a very promising new cycle and Napoli under Conte is one to watch. Roma has been pretty decent in Europe too, and their recent signings and play style under De Rossi has been great. I always love what Gasperini is doing with Atalanta and you can’t discount them at all.
Winning the UCL has a lot of factors but I can see Italian teams make constant Quarter and Semis run in the Champions League and even Finals every 3 years or something like that.
At the current stage I would say only Inter can win an UCL because we are clearly settled with the coach, team and management. Even then Madrid and City seem to be WAYYY better contenders for obvious reasons. Juve and Milan will soon come into this conversation in a couple of seasons too I feel.
Inter is the strongest currently, but they are also not that sustainable. They won the league last season but their squad is getting worse each season (I think their strongest squad is when they won the league with Conte).
Napoli is just a mess, they might need to worry about being good again first
Juve has more or less been an after thought for me recently, I think some of their players are very good, but Juve fans don’t think so. I think Juve fans hate their own players more than any rival fan
As a Milan fan, I’m somewhat biased when I say we have a strong squad on paper, but keep using “pass to Leao and pray” tactics. With Fonseca maybe it will be different but I don’t think this is a Champions League winning team, it doesn’t help that we don’t seem interested in signing established players
as long as Inzaghi keeps cooking, Inter don’t have to sell best players and maybe a change of ownership there will be a Serie A team that will win the Champions League, Juventus as long as they go back to smart business like they were doing before signing Higuain and Ronaldo will also be back under Thiago Motta. Always will be tough coming up against the Arsenals, Bayerns, Reals and Citys of Europe but yeah.
Although I do wonder what will happen when San Siro possibly closes post 2026 (why is San Siro even closing btw? As far as I’m aware, Milan and Inter fans nearly sell out every game, it’s one of the largest in Europe and steeped in tradition.
Not anytime soon. We’re lightyears behind the massive incomes of the PL. they can easily get all the best players. Serie-A puts up with a fight and does a great job. But we lack so much income.
Mid-lower team teams earn more than our top 5 (read it somewhere, don’t quote me on this).
Atalanta vs Bayern Munich with Lookman scoring another hattrick
I really wish as a milan fan that inter would win 22/23 UCL but lakaka
When we’ll start to use Italian young players again
No Italian team is winning it this decade.
The gap between the best team in Italy and the UCL winners ( R.Madrid, Man City,Bayern) has never been bigger. Inters won’t get past the QFs and Jive would be happy to reach the R.O 16.
Atalanta and Milan have a shot to reach the Last 16 but that’s it. Bologna has group stage exit written all over them.
I will say though that Milan has been pretty excellent in the UEFA Youth League( SF and Final the last 2 years )so their academy has some decent promising players…. Camarda,Simic,Bartesaghi and Zeroli look like future starters for the senior team….of they can add some talent around those guys in around 6 or so years they can have a team.gokd enough to win it.
Serie A teams can’t sign best players anymore..the next Italian UCL winner will have to rely on their academy to have a team good enough to win it.
