Ukraine seeks just peace amid war fatigue, so increasing allies’ support is crucial for negotiations. Trump’s return could shift dynamics but FT warns against forced unfavorable settlement. Putin must be left with no alternative to consider just peace.

  1. oh what an evil, evil, bloodthirsty, aggressive, warlike Ukraine! It is squeezing the poor innocent bird of peace! It is absolutely equal to russia! No better at all! Bad, bad warmongers Ukrainians!

  2. The Russians are engaged in a revaunchist project to reconstruct some form of Empire. This is reminiscent of the cycle of violence between France and Germany in the period 1870-1945.

This only ended when Germany ceased to view itself as an Imperial Power in Reich n+1.

Unless and until the mindset of the Russian regime changes, or they are permanently deprived of combat power, Marshall Foch’s statement about the Treaty of Versailles will apply to any cessation of hostilities:

    > This [treaty] is not peace. It is an armistice for twenty years.

There can be no “just peace” because no amount of reparations can bring back the dead, heal the maimed, or mend broken minds.

The only stable and sustainable peace I can imagine is a restoration of Ukraine’s 1991 borders, backed up by NATO membership.

If Ukraine is forced to capitulate, Russia will simply seek a new target. The world should take note that Hitler’s annexation of Czechoslovakia dramatically increased his combat power because of the strategic industries thereby obtained.

If Putin were to conquer Ukraine then he would turn their war industries against the Free World.

The Ukrainian people have stopped the hands of the clock somewhere in 1938 by the courageous sacrifice of their blood and treasure; we in the Free World must do whatever it takes to ensure that they never reach September 1939.

  3. Si now we re talking about peace? I thought this cannot be achieved without kicking the russians out of ukraine!
