Anyone know why the European Amazon sites (German, France, Italy; all except UK) are suddenly only offering expedited shipping rather than giving the option for standard shipping?

  1. I’d also like to know the answer, shipping on amazon recently got too expensive. Some items, shipping is more than the item

  2. It seems that Maltapost are simply not reliable enough in terms of delivery time estimation, delivery reporting and general handling. Just my assumption from the way Amazon generally works.

  3. I can confirm that this is because of the terrible service by MaltaPost for standard shipping. Taking months to deliver a small package is unacceptable for both the customer and Amazon.

    Apparently Amazon lost a good chunk of money in Malta cause nothing they were shipping was arriving. Thats what corporate told me at least.

  4. I had items shipped with standard shipping arriving after amazon shipping it again with expedited shipping, paying 1 to get 2 basically.

    Well, funnily enough even with expedited shipping, tech items are still cheaper on Amazon than sourcing them locally.

  6. Italy is allowsling non-expedited again. I stopped buying from .de after they said the issue would soon be resolved. The soon was over a month ago…

    I suspect that the main issues relate no items coming from outside the EU, thus throwing customs into the mix. I never had a problem with Maltapost’s delivery, so maybe some areas are a bit sketchy. Their customer care is more of a customer scare service however.

  7. A lot of suppliers won’t even deliver to Malta due to items getting *lost* , unless it’s delivered by DHL, Skynet or UPS the chance of it getting here is minimal. I’ve given up, even the MaltaPost sendon is sketchy at best, cheaper to have things delivered to a friend in the UK, the pop over and collect …
