  1. The video showed why I want a speedlimit on the Autobahn.

But not that proposed 130 kmh bullshit. The 250 kmh limiter should be mandatory tho.

30 years ago it was hard to find cars that reach that speed. Like even the strongest (non m) 3 series only managed 240 kmh. 20 years ago only a selected few managed 250. 300 was unthinkable for most.

Without turbos it was quite expensive to add a meaningfull amount of hp to the car aswell.

Nowadays lots of turbocharged cars that come with 300+ hp from the factoy. Even fucking Golfs can have way more power than that. Change the file and they reach 300+ kmh with ease.

And your average ‘I must drive very fast’ once 19 year old idiot isnt responsible enough for that amount of power.

Sportbikes got insane aswell even tho they at least dont display 300..

Back in the day our manufacturers added the 250 limit to counter an actual speedlimit. Unfortunately even they dont give a fuck anymore. Every (actual) M, RS, AMG can be ordered with some kind of drivers package to raise the speedlimit to 300 something.

  2. Is the motivation here just the speed? I mean did somebody complain about his driving did he get in an accident?

  3. It actually makes perfect sense to have a “reasonable” limit of, let’s say, 200 or 250 km/h, as it’s fast, but not absurdly fast. However, if there’s no speed limit why are politicians criticising someone for being within the law? If they consider it’s not safe then change the law, otherwise this moral condemnation of a technically legal thing is stupid. Yes, I know that the minister said that you have to keep the vehicle under control, but what does that even mean? Was the car not under control?

  4. I *love* speed. I *love* performance. These things make me happy.

But even I have to admit it was reckless. The video seems fine, not much traffic. It still takes 500m for his car to stop at that speed in the best conditions. *NOBODY* here is prepared for a car showing up in the rearview doing over 400 km/h, much less the yellow plates that camp in the left lane. It’s a literal roll of the dice that people will do what’s expected each time, unless he managed to rent/ clear the autobahn
