Supply chain problems puts brakes on car repairs

  1. I would like to just add a comment. The article says it’s due to the pandemic disrupting the automotive industry. But in the EU the only issue right now is transistors and chipsets, which are for new cars. So I wonder where KentOnline get their sources from? – or do I walk daily with my eyes closed.

Bodyparts, replacement parts, etc. there are no shortage. I’ve had my cars in the workshop (in Denmark) both in December and January, one with major work – and it was fixed in 24 hours. My friend who works as a mechanic in Sweden, also says there are no disruptions or issues. Same goes for imports, as I have family in Danish Workshop and Import.

I think a lot of these issues come down to Brexit. Not the pandemic, otherwise we would see more nations with these issues. Just like food shortages, lorry queues, drivers and seasonal workers not being issues either in EU; at least to the same extent as Britain.

In fact, Denmark just passed a bill through parliament with a broad majority across parties, that reduce taxes for the entire working class – with a socialdemocratic gov! If the pandemic hit the same, as many UK media outlets say, why is it that somehow Britain is on fire and nobody dares to say the B-word?

  2. Everything going as planned then.

(Do remember the EU allowed the option of leaving Brexit until the next EU elections so we all had a decent chance of being able to concentrate on the COVID disruption. But…)

  3. I’m not seeing it on products made in the EU or Uk. the vast majority of issues are products with parts or their base products are someway made in the far East in which shipping is a major issue which is a covid issue not a brexit one.

What I do see it people blaming poor service or availability due to their own issues ie not ordering enough or just taking to many orders on Covid or brexit,

Put simply we live in a next day delivery world with that expectation on every product covid had reduced the world’s productivity across the board when excess production was seen as unacceptable expenditure in factory’s previously has left little to no ability to clear manufacturing backlogs. the just in time productivity models have and will continue to fail to meet demand worldwide for the foreseeable future, you are witnessing the failure of global manufacturing. Basically its a giant shit sandwich and we are all going to have to take a bite
