  3. Hungary have a nice occupation (terror) museum in Budapest. People who vote for Orban should visit it and think anout it. It seems, that after Orban, museum will have ton add third part to it.

    Btw, Hungary should be banned from Shengen agreement.

  5. Tbf, he explains his moves like cosying up to Russia, China quite well in this speech, though I did not understand why he believes Ukraine should not even be in the EU. Some of his objectives are undermined by none other than him like not having manufacturing jobs done by guest workers when a Chinese factory in Hungary uses overwhelmingly guest workers from China.

    As for the inclusion of all Hungarian, I think that his desire is not only expanding ties with the Hungarian minority in other countries, but if the situation arises even border rectifications. Hungary is small and weak (on the world or even European scale), but like in 1938-1941, it will push for border changes if the current international system collapses. The difference is that Germany of the 30s is replaced by other revisionist powers of today like China and Russia.

    All in all, Orban believes that the current EU system does not have a long life and tries to do everything it can to disrupt him and get closer to those who, in his view, have a bright future. I think that people who believe that Orban does Orban things only to enrich himself are partially mistaken. Unlike Fico, for example, he actually has a worldview. For the good of everyone in the EU, a strong push to sideline Hungary by activating Article 7 is paramount. We will be dragged down by Hungary and we can not expect Hungarians to vote him out as he has rigged the system and a critical mass of Hungarians are like him.

    They are doing it because they have maneuvered themselves into the position where they have no choice.

    It’s pathetic – he’s the head of a small, but not tiny, European nation that has some delusions of grandeur and unprocessed resentments after they took the wrong side of both the World Wars.

    Ok the first time they kinda had no choice but the second one… Hungary was Hitler’s final European ally and didn’t change side to the very bitter end only because they were butthurt about losing territory in Trianon. Territory that was mostly inhabited by non-Hungarians (Romanian, Slovaks, Serbs and Croats) anyway.
