Some context: Serbia recently rejected plans for a major lithium mining project, and the EU expects to do quite a bit of electric vehicle production, for which the lithium will need to be obtained somewhere. Portugal is one of the other places in Europe that has known lithium reserves.
>A proposed mining project, which was to produce 2.3 million tonnes of battery-grade lithium carbonate over four decades, has had its licence revoked by the Serbian government.
–
>Constraints on the battery materials supply chain saw lithium carbonate prices rise 25% in the second half of January to 358,500 yuan ($56,000)/tonne, amid high global demand and difficulty of securing supplies.
You know what? Fuck it. Let governments do as they want. Let them fuck the world to oblivion, I don’t care anymore. I will just sit down watching for the environmental collapse unfolding live and hoping that makes them pay every single cent for all the bullshit they’ve done.
This news are not fully correct. Not fake news but incorrect.
Portugal’s government did not approved lithium mining. As in a licence for industrial lithium mining.
At this time the government has granted prospecting licenses to carry out a feasibility study for lithium mining. A few places were not given licences for the reasons stated in the video.
