Calls for Ukraine to give up territories to Russia are unacceptable, Austrian Foreign Ministry says

2. Oh really? About time for Austria to step up.

Let’s imagine that we are under attack: South Styria or Burgenland was occupied by a foreign state, there was an attempt to destroy the Austrian federal government or expel it from the country. And then we would be told: “Dear Austrians, why don’t you give up part of your territory for the sake of peace?” I consider such calls from the outside unacceptable,” the diplomat said.*

   This is all it takes: putting yourself/country in the shoes of the Ukrainian people.

   Why it’s so hard for some people to do eludes me.

4. Good, agreed but surprising coming from Austria of all places.

5. Nice to hear this from Austria. They have been too silent. They have a lot of business dealings with Russia and are still receiving a large amount of natural gas from russia via Ukraine and Slovakia. That gas agreement expires at the end of the year in Ukraine. We will see if it continues and what Austria has to say at that time. Hopefully they will not sound like Slovakia and Hungary when the agreement is not renewed

7. Giving up some land would mean that we accept that a country can invade another one to appropriate his land ! Unacceptable !!!
