Phots of a bird of prey that I took today, though I dont have a clue what kinda one it is.

  1. It looks like a buzzard. Other common birds of prey include merlin (small, rarer), sparrowhawk (more grey), kestrel (tan brown /white, hovers). Eagles (golden type, White-tailed type) are more likely to be seen on West Coast mountains and close to large water bodies respectively.

  2. This last few years I’ve never seen so many hawks and kestrels flying about. Great to see.

  3. You should go to Wicklow between greystones and Arklow. Lots of red kites. They are cool looking birds. Mostly around the motorways, getting road kill I guess.

  4. Love getting to see any buzzard etc. I’m in Co.Wicklow so seeing multiple kites daily is a blessing. If anyone ever wants to see Kites go to Avoca/Arklow
