Calling this guy (Georgescu) an “éminence grise” is ridiculous wrong. An éminence grise is a quiet, secret leader. This Gerorgescu is simply an useful idiot pushed ahead, a marionette.
He was a non-commissioned officer of the former Ceausescu-Securitate, placed in the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to spy Mircea Malita, a prominent Romanian Ambassador.
After 1990 his career becomes quite sulphurous until some years ago, when he’s constantly presented in some circles as some interesting figure. The extremist, Russia-supported Romanian party AUR promotes him as a future “prime minister”. An idiotic puppet.
