  1. 10 years for the 11th conviction would have prevented this.

  2. Only yesterday a fella got 8 years in prison for possession of €58,000 worth of cannabis. 10 years with 2 suspended

  3. 4 years for attacking someone and killing them.
    4 fuckin years.

    Zero justice in that.

  4. Charged with murder but jury went with manslaughter. This happens a lot in jury courts. If there is a serious charge and a lesser charge, the jury often go with the lower one if they think the punishment for the higher one would be too severe.

  5. Powerful words from the victims father outside the courts, and he is bang on the money.

    >”Matt was punched and kicked in a mindless, senseless cowardly act as he lay defenceless on the road. While no sentence can bring our son back life, life is precious and fragile and should be protected.

    >”The sentence handed down today does not amount to justice. They killed our son and they received four years. There have been many violent and brutal attacks like this in the past. And there will be many more. Whose son or daughter will be next.

    >”We call on our minister of justice to review the sentencing and legislation for these brutal attacks. As a result of this attack our only son is dead.

    >”Respect for the lives of our young ones is not enhanced by insufficient consequences for those who live by a violent code.”

    Well said!

  6. So they’ll be out before their mid 20s and have the rest of their lives to live, and we can only pray they won’t brutally attack anybody else.

  7. Fucking laughable sentence for ending a life. And on the same day a lad gets 16 months for running a dodgy box service, approaching half the sentence these fellas got.

  8. Ireland. A place where you can beat someone to death and get 4 years in prison. Wowsers this country is gone to the pits 😅

  9. *Deasy in particular understood the pain caused to the O’Neill family as he was also an only child…. Deasy has 11 previous convictions one of which is for assault causing harm.*

  10. That’s a very light sentence for taking a life. The Irish justice system baffles me. Voilent crime just seems to be treated as some kind of sport.

  11. How come they both got the same sentence, when one of them presented himself to the Guards within an hour while the other did a runner?
