  1. PGNiG Supply&Trading (PST), a subsidiary of Poland’s oil and gas company PGNiG Group, in cooperation with the US-Ukrainian ERU, has won a tender for the sale of gas to Moldova. This will be the first delivery of non-Russian gas to that country in history.

  2. From the text,

“Moldova’s contract with Gazprom expired at the end of September. The government asked for an extension but balked at the price of USD 790 per 1,000 cubic metres.”

Gazprom actually proposed a 70/30 scheme, where 70% of the gas price is taken from spot gas prices and 30% from oil prices. For the winter period, the price would have been about $700, but after the price on the spot markets normalized, it would have dropped manifold.

As for the contract, it is the supply of 1 million cubic meters, a negligible figure, given that the annual consumption of Moldova is about 3 billion cubic meters

  3. So we offered Moldova $790 per thousand cubic meters along with a 25% discount and they went an purchased from Ukraine & Poland for around $1000 per thousand cubic meters as their Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilica said. If this isn’t politics at play, I don’t know what is.

  4. Good for Poland, taking advantage of the situation. Get some sort of a guaranty for payment ahead of time though. They couldn’t afford our offer I am not sure how they will pay more money for the same.
