  1. My dad wanted a oil boiler, I told him about the grant.
    Registered fitter with government €4.500
He bought the same boiler for €1,100 plumber to fit €200 it was a change over, so do the maths.

  2. Recently looked into getting a heat pump fitted, had a company come out and have a look, was told I’d need to bring up the buildings energy rating in order for it to work effectively. Had someone else come out and asses the building, was estimated around 35-40k to bring the building up to the required energy rating, before getting the heat pump fitted. Heat pump was put on the very very long finger. If you’re on a medium to low income, you’ll have to wear socks and a sweater and stay cold.

  3. I’ve been getting quotes to get work done on my freezing cold house including fully reinsulating the place so this is great news for me.

  4. Having to go with a SEAI registered installer is a pain in the balls. We are renovating and will go from a F to a B3 but because we aren’t using a registered contractor, aren’t eligible?

  5. Im still in shock with this one. I got a quote of 180k pre grant for my retrofit. It was through the credit union and house 2 home. Going with another crowd who quoted me 80k for the same work so it’ll be 50 odd with the grant. That includes external wrap, TG windows, heat pump, , solar panels, floor and roof insulation.

    My house isn’t big

  6. The government cant win with people here

    Do nothing, whinging

Do something, well that’s just going to increase prices
