Menschen, die in der ersten Welle der Pandemie eine schwere Covid-19-Erkrankung hatten, weisen Jahre später einen kognitiven Rückgang auf, der einem Verlust von 10 IQ-Punkten entspricht

  1. “what do you mean my PC is now a -1 to intelligence?”

  2. The study tested people immediately after infection and several years later. Only 20% of invited participants participated, so the study’s representativeness is uncertain. No pre-infection baseline exists. Interesting study with major limitations.

  3. awsome. is that why i cant remeber shit sometimes. I keep forgeting where i left shit and it doesnt help that my wife likes to move my shit around.

  4. So you’re saying Trump lost half his remaining marbles? Sounds about right.

  5. >on average, peoples’ symptoms of depression, anxiety and fatigue had worsened

So many of them probably have a less active social and professional life. That in itself is possibly enough to explain a decline of 10 points in IQ.

  6. I feel like living through the anti-vax debates lowered my IQ 10 points. Does that count?

  7. What about those vaccinated who had already few COVID?? Here in Ireland is big issue with reinfctions.

  8. I’ve long thought that the current general stupidity and covid were linked. I truly do believe that the sickness did make people lose intelligence.

  9. What I’s like to see is what is normal cognitive decline year-after-year of:
    1. Normal aging w/stress
    2. Normal aging w/o stress
    3. Increased alcohol consumption
    4. Increased recreational drug use

  10. 2 guys at my job quit because they couldn’t do it anymore. They where among the first in Europe with covid. One of them mentored me quite a bit when I came to work there. Not even a year later I tried to explain the things he explained to me. He couldn’t grasp it anymore.

  11. If they would’ve just downed a Solo cup of bleach from the Orange Jesus pandemic handbook like the rest of us, they’d be fine.

  12. That was me. As part of the Long COVID clinic at the VA I had a complete neuropsychology work up that detected small but impactful deficits to short term memory, concentration, and verbalization. Also a potentially related hand tremor.  I’m 43.

Good news is the VA’s therapy has historically shown efficacy so I’m hopeful it can be reversed. I’m eternally grateful to have this high quality healthcare, if I were fending for myself in the land of HMOs I might have died back then.

  13. is it possible that this is all some kind of trauma response?

i think it did actually change something in me to see morgue trucks filling up, while some nutjobs scream about how it’s fake. that’s a truly unique experience that most cultures never experienced before. there’s no baseline or reference point for that, we got a full serving of a completely new horror.

  14. That would explain the shitshow we are observing everywhere.

  15. I know people that still have a cough, a few years after having covid.

I also know the EU is the only place testing the booster shots for cancerous entities, because the rest of the world wants to keep it hush hush.

  16. I wouldn’t say 10 IQ points but I do feel like my attention span and my tolerance for certain things is lower.

  17. I had multiple concussions afterwards so perhaps I’m 0 now

  18. It’s all starting to make sense… Well, some of it on how society has broken down.

  19. Stupid virus bitch couldn’t even make I less smarter.

  20. Covid brain fog isn’t new. It’s also real as fuck.

  21. As someone who’s never tested positive for COVID I vow to be a loving and generous overlord to you all.

  22. Any correlation to how much TV they watch? I could see my iq dipping 20 points if I watch Fox News everyday for five years

  23. I feel like my cognitive capacity is lile 70% of what it used to be before Covid

  24. Hey, remember when Donald Trump was hospitalized with Covid?
