Yes it has huge implications for the housing market. There aren’t enough homes to reflect this, and even when people want to downsize they often can’t because there aren’t enough small houses on the market
so you get boomers living alone in 3-4 bedroom houses they own, pleading poverty and getting the full range of help from the State, and the State gets basically nothing from the fact they own the house, can’t even get council tax because they don’t have to pay. Whereas if you are young and working and have no property and over 16k in assets you get nothing from the state
