Rwandan luxury restaurant boom highlights economic inequality β€’ FRANCE 24 English

Rwandans will go to the polls next July 15 and the incumbent president, Paul Kagame, the only strong favorite, has continually praised his economic record during the campaign. The services and tourism industry are the driving forces behind this success. But the inequalities among residents are among the highest in East Africa. This gap is evident in the kitchens of the capital, with luxury restaurants for the wealthy multiplying over the past five years, while neighborhood canteens serve the rest.

  1. He is a local chef, he is employing local staffsπŸ˜‚ in every country bar maybe Switzerland most staffs working in fine dining restaurants cannot afford to eat where they workπŸ˜‚ this is turning into Rwanda bashing

  2. I am not sure what the argument here is. Inflation is a global problem, affecting Rwanda and the rest of the world.

Investments in luxury tourism have generated income and jobs to thousands of smallholder farmers, distributors, tourist guides, artisans to say the least. That's also not unique to Rwanda.

  3. Hmmm!!!…how's this different from the rest of the world?! Or is there a hidden agenda here especially because of the period we're in!!…most probably. Kindly employ your weak tactics somewhere else.

  4. Leave Rwanda alone you abroad journalist and Africa alone
So what's the matter we don't meddle in Europeans problems and they are always meddling in ours
Let's talk about the high rise of drug addiction in the USA and rise of prices so why don't you talk about that
Only trying to destroy Africa with your negativity

  5. which problem do we have with you? You are only see bad things of Rwanda there no good things in Rwanda just leave us alone we will vote our president and nothing gone stop that dude

  6. You're so ridiculous. You don't have any grasp to start with. Leave our country alone!
