  1. Winning his third gold in the +100kg category with maybe the cleanest ippon of the entire 2024 Olympics. Absolute legend.

  2. Very fun to watch! It happened so quickly! It seemed like they were both heading towards a stale mate and then BOOM!

Fun for him to win in front of the home crowd. The arena exploded!

  3. This was INSANE to watch. He saw that opening so well and pulled it off perfectly, it was over before you knew it. And then they started playing Alexandrie Alexandra!!! There’s an incredible DJ working behind the scenes here…

  4. Always in awe how easy he makes it seem to toss a 130+ kg man

  5. This guy is just huge no way the South Korean was stopping that. 🙌🏻

  6. I’m at the fanzone at La Villette today, the roar here was insane

  7. 11 times world champion, 3 times Olympic champion! The guy is 35, what a longevity!

  8. He’s still so dominant, I wonder if he’ll be there in 4 years. He could be able to keep winning

  9. Was watching judo on Peacock… they were doing commentary on the women’s event.  And the crowd starts chanting “TEDDY! TEDDY! TEDDY!” during the match before his.  I’m just glad nobody I would be cheering for was facing him!

  10. Meanwhile, Guram is crying in a corner because Teddy’s opponent Kim Min-jong showed more respect to him.

  11. One of the greatest athletes to ever play in the Olympics

  12. So so so happy for him.

I really hoped he would make this Olympics and be able to do something special. I’m British, but his win had me shouting and more excited than most Team GB wins.

Although I know the French adore him, I wish he was more recognised worldwide as the sporting legend he is.

  13. I’m so happy he won. And so glad it’s over -it was causing me great pain to cheer for a Frenchman as a Brit. Now I can revert back to healthy jingoism.

  14. I love the sportsmanship he shows by getting the crowd to acknowledge the Silver Medalist and cheer for him too. It was very much a gesture of recognizing how well the other guy fought and how much he accomplished to get there.

  15. A shame that Kim lost, but damn Teddy is a cool guy. Absolutely deserved the win and the sportsmanship at the end was exceptional

  16. Useless trivia time: Riner voiced Finnick in the French dub of ‘Zootopia.’

  17. Man, this is the perfect time for him to retire. Gold medal. At the Olympics. AT HOME! After an incredible career. This is it! But I’d love to see him in LA.
He will never forget this moment!

  18. Fun Fact: Teddy Riner is the first person to light the cauldron and win a gold medal in the same Olympic Games since Cathy Freeman accomplished the same feat in the 2000 Olympics!!

  19. As someone who knows almost nothing about judo, it’s satisfying to see a super clean takedown. Looked like something you’d see at recess in 5th grade.

  20. Fun fact: the crowd was composed only of the people he defeated.

  21. Could someone explain how France became so good at a Japanese sport?

  22. First time I’ve really watched judo and I don’t really understand it yet, but I like it better than wrestling

  23. Had Macron in his grip during a hug right after.

Missed opportunity for the best ippon of all time if you ask me.

  24. I wouldn’t want to be the poor guy who will face him in the team tournament now 🙂

  25. The commentator squealing like a little girl did it for me lmao

  26. I’ll never get tired of seeing the athletes and fans when they win on home soil

  27. I watched the Netflix documentary on Simone Biles with someone mentioning she was the most dominant athlete in any sport ever.

Me: “You obviously don’t know Teddy Riner…”

  28. He could get another gold in the mixed teams tomorrow. The weight categories work out very favourably for the French over the Japanese.  If you’ve not watched judo before, the mixed team event is next level excitement. Check it out !
