Russian forces are now less than 17 km from Pokrovsk. Deep State says the situation is critical and continues to deteriorate as Russia has significantly increased its use of glide bombs in the direction over the past few days

1. Main thing is Russian forces withdraw before they are overrun. Better lose the town than the soldiers

2. If they will continue enlarging the salient without expanding at the flanks, they might have serious trouble in the near future when Ukraine gets more people and equipment.

3. I think the main problem is the build up of Russian troops near Kharkiv. I imagine if it wasn’t for that Russia would not be as successful on this part of the frontlines.

4. Ukraine simply has to hit those SU-34s dropping the glide bombs, otherwise the slow Russian advances will continue and accelerate, albeit at horrific cost for the Russians. Hitting the SU-34s means either moving Patriots forward or F-16s. Both are risky but if the west continues to deny Ukraine the ability to strike Russian airbases deep inside Russia, there are no alternatives, other than forfeiting more and more of their own territory.

   The big question is whether the west will untie Ukraine’s hands and allow Ukraine to hit those SU-34s on the ground.

5. Too bad F-16’s were not there 6 months ago. I think they could have helped to stop glide bombs.
