There was this video I was watching of AJP Taylor and in this video at 4:30, Fanny Cradock says that Taylor is like a Whitheed(Whitehead?) in the high wind, he always slithers away. I haven’t heard of this phrase nor have I found it online. Is anyone familiar with this phrase and if you are can you please provide some details or context? Thanks!

I am pretty sure she is saying *”It’s like holding a wet eel in a high wind, you always slither out at any chance you get.”*
Definitely wet something, not 100% on the eel, but it makes sense in context. Plus it’s from the 70s, Churchill liked his ‘eel’ metaphors so that could be a cultural influence.
She has an old fashioned upper class accent and they love to drop unnecessary h and t sounds at the end of words.
