I hope Turkey wont be allowed. That’d be a disaster
I am looking forward for Bulgaria to join Schengen and Eurozone! Greetings to our best land neighbours
How to save the EU=No more countries. Specially an non European country (Turkey) will be a disaster…Trojan horse…
Why is Liechtenstein coloured in? It’s not a member of the EU or the Eurozone. San Marino and the Vatican aren’t part of the EU either, though they do use the Euro.
Moldova doesn’t apply ?
I know why Norway isn’t in the EU
I think I may have heard why the UK isn’t in the EU (well, at least once)
But why isn’t Iceland? Have they gotten the offer at all? Did they vote no on a referendum?
You can cross enlargement agenda off the list. There won’t be anymore enlargement as some EU politicians said.
Croatia has realistc chances of joining Eurozone and Schengen in the next couple of years, mostly for the sake of making Eurozone tourists time there easier, and that’s about it.
Let’s make a legend. But instead of making it very clear, we’ll make it so it has different hues of only one color.
When United States of Europe?
I don’t see Turkey becoming an EU member state any time soon.
I still have mixed feelings about having a monetary union while not having a fiscal union. It means that the currency is overvalued in countries with lower economic competitiveness and trade deficit (eg Greece, Portugal), and undervalued in countries with high competitiveness and trade surplus (eg Germany, The Netherlands). For the less competitive countries, one way to increase it would be to devalue the currency, but this option currently does not exist for them. I do think, however, that euro definitely makes traveling and trading easier.
It kills my heart when I realize that Ukraine and Georgia are not light blue on this map 🥲
You’re not taking our fucking krona!
I’ve always said since the beginning of the EU back in the early 2000s that it was a great idea. There was so much hate and negativity in the press (This was in the USA, so no surprise) about how it’s not going to work. How the Euro is going to cause fiscal problems that will become unsolvable. How the EU would dissolve, how the single currency was a “nightmare.” Just endless shade being thrown. A lot of people wanted the EU to fail so the member states would be forced to kiss USA ass and follow their lead. It was in a lot of corporations and powers’ interests that the EU project turn out unsuccessful. I’m glad it didn’t. It’s by no means perfect, but one can not look at the Europe of today and of 1991 and not marvel in its transformation.
Poland and Czech Republic should have their own color: “EU and doing everything in their power to avoid entering the eurozone”
Maybe stupid question: could a new member joining the eurozone be used to fight inflation? For instance by having them join but not print new money but exchange theirs?
Anyone know why Andorra didn’t want to join?
oh boy the comments section is on fire today
Nothing against Switzerland, but the day we have an european army we should invade them just to get a nicest map.
I think the EU should scrap the unanimity rule before enlarging (it’ll only get harder to scrap with more members)
Eh. We often joke the EU will cease to exist before we join it.
I would not mind Denmark having the €uro.
Iceland has frozen the negotiations but color is not accurate.
Yeah, fuck Ukraine again. Some countries from the EU don’t want to ruin a relationship with Russia so we have no chance to join NATO and the EU.
Sad British noises.
The year is 3000 the Global Union formerly known as the European Union is negotiating another extension of the Northern Ireland Protocol as Turkey prepares for another stage of accession.
*sigh* sad UK Noises ~~ we’ll be back one day, I hope
Let’s hope we’ll see more dark blue in the future.
