Happy birthday from Poland
Ohhh, the world was still in black & white then!
The title might make some people misunderstand the issue. It wasn’t a question of Lithuanians making their wish known that brought them freedom. It was the collapse of the Soviet Union, that had been occupying Lithuania that brought it. Lithuanians never wished to be occupied and the fact that this referendum was even possible was a sign of the collapse of the empire.

By some reason they don’t allow the same right to Crimea and Donbass.
If USSR is divisible, Ukraine is divisible, too. Especially after an illegal coup
Looks like a pic from a hoi4 event lol
Unpopular opinion: the Berlin Wall fall, in retrospect, was a mistake. I’m happy for all the countries that gained independence but the end of the URSS meant the end to the main restraint capitalism had in the Western World.
Meanwhile people of r/Russia as gushing over the idea that the former USSR states really wanted to join back and that is the case they are saying for the invasion of Crimea and now Ukraine. They will ban anyone with a different opinion. Those guys are idiots
Perhaps a bit off topic, but it is my wish that the bigger economic powers in Europe, particularly Germany and France, do more than listen to their eastern partners in the EU. Germany has helped to improve the standard of living in these nations, but some policies, particularly in light of the most recent crisis, give me the impression that many in Germany are content to continue their way of life at the cost of others. Taking this to its conclusion, then this is true of course for all developed countries with regard to poorer nations in Africa and elsewhere, but in the EU there should be certainly specific, tangible, and efficacious solidarity. From an insignificant viewer in Western Europe, it seems this way to me.
Too naive, perhaps, but there it is.
Pretty sure that the Republic of Lithuania was ‘created’ a lot earlier than 1991.
Long live Lithuania!
Did they not have colour photography in Lithuania in 1991?
Lithuania had already declared independence before this to re-establish their independent republic
Did the Soviet Union have no colour photographic film in 1991? 🙂
Crazy Western Basement-Dweller Tankies: Bu-but this was a violent CIA/MI6/Mossad backed coup! The dissolution of the USSR is illegal! The Baltic States rightfully belong to Russia!
