Maybe it is because I am in the UK so I am used to seeing the main two parties get ~35-40% each, but it seems very strange to me that the incumbent is only on 26%.
I love French elections because a good 50% of the candidates will outright be crazed lunatics but the whole country is very ok with it.
Even Mélenchon has some wild quotes, something like this is pretty much impossible here.

Zemmour looks here like a Marvel villain and a dangerous leader, but when you google him he looks like another nice and warm French writer and journalist that you would invite to your place.
I read an article about Zemmour recently in which it was noted he was spotted having lunch with Jean Marie Le-Pen and Ursula Von Ribbentrop – the daughter of you know whom. What an utterly despicable, shameful act not just for any public figure, but for a Jewish person?!?!??!. It’s utterly insane.
