Frankly I’m surprised it isn’t higher in Spain though since there’s absolutely no acceleration lanes at all.
We drive like psychos, it’s only normal.
Definitely not surprised about Romania or Bulgaria. When I was there, I remember being dumb-founded by how some drivers would prioritise almost running over pedestrians just to save a couple of seconds of transit.
Estonia is always doing better than Lithuania. Sad.
And Portgual can into Eastern Europe…again.
💪🇧🇬💪🇷🇴
Every death of a young person I knew was either a driving accident or suicide.
Same number for Norway (not EU) is 21 (rounded up) fatalities per million inhabitants, 2019.
edit: I just noticed Norway at the end there. Doh.
A map of Europe would look like the usual
Russia -120
Ukraine-102
Belarus- 76
Dam they should call it roadmania instead
Portugal
It gets so damn tiring coming on threads like this and looking for where the UK is at before going ‘oh’ 😔
When you have the worst roads in Europe and the biggest number of douchebags in Europe, this is what you get.
It is insane how so many eastern european drivers drive as if they are suicidal… having a polish or romanian or bulgarian driver behind you is never pleasent
Bulgaria and Romania, as always.
Its offical joining the eu makes you more likely to die in a car crash
Romania eastern tiger
Belgium. I’m surprised it is not even worse.
And the Greens want 120 km/h everywhere on the Autobahn…
Pfft. Anything under 100 is amateur numbers

A lot of these accidents in Romania are made by brain-dead 19 yo who just got their license and thought that buying a second hand birtish BMW E60 and driving reckless is a great ideea
Always surprised Netherlands and Denmark have such low numbers in these stats – despite decent infrastructure you’d imagine a lot of cyclists in traffic would pump up the numbers. Appears not to be the case.
The Irish Road Safety Authority has had extensive promotional campaigns across TV, radio and social media for many years now, with the most recent one targeting young male drivers, so the fatality rate has declined dramatically over the last decade.
It’s not so much about how good or bad people drive but about how much roads are designed with safety as their primary objective and properly maintained and how new the average cars are (newer cars tend to have much better safety features). Road design and maintenance plays a key role. Idiots are everywhere.
Today’s reason to feel ashamed of being Romanian. Can’t wait for tomorrow 🤞
does it account for different definitions of “killed in road accident” in different countries?
