Denmark is overflowing with virus cases, but the population is partying.

  1. The amount of people that are hospitalised because of covid and need respirators has been stable. The article states that hospitalisations with covid have reached an all-time high. And while that is true its very misleading as its almost entirely an increase in people having covid that would be hospitalised anyway.
It seems like omicron has taken over and is weak enough to the vaccinated, for covid to not be that big of a deal anymore.

  2. Paywall, but given the source it is likely 80% BS sprinkled with a few facts before a punchline intended for domestic policies in the USA

  3. It is wild how the media coverage is a mixed bag of being worried that we will cause more covid fatigue in nations where vaccination rates are lower and covididiots acting like this is some sort of huge victory for them, when this is the direct consequence of huge pandemic discipline by my countrymen.

DR.dk had an article yesterday with interviews with tourists in copenhagen and there was an unvaccinated swiss man so happy that he could go clubbing again. Smh.

  4. My country went through both delta and omicron waves, and there is a stark difference between the two. Hospitals were better prepared and hospitalisation rates are low due to vaccination. Most people are not afraid of getting the virus anymore.

  5. Cases mean next to nothing. Having the virus on your body does not mean that one is infected, given that the Immune system does not function at light speed velocity. One can test positive and be completely unharmed/unharmable by the pathogen.

  6. Same in England and we’re going to be removing all remaining Covid restrictions next month, even the legal requirement to self isolate, treating it the same as flu.

  7. There are about 40k cases and 20 deaths a day, one year ago same number of deaths with 3k cases. Today’s situation doesn’t look that bad.
