I don’t understand the villages choice. For example Positano is way more popular than Vernazza (more than 2 mln posts on Instagram), and it has the same number of inhabitants of Oia.
Ha Long Bay at nr 2? I have never seen a worse example of over-tourism. Its dirty, tourists lack any respect by throwing shit everywhere and no-one cleans it up, noisy ships, leaking oil that makes water like a thick oily soup. Add to that thousands of low quality hotels that are empty most of the year but flooded by Chinese travelers that don’t interact with anyone. Plus a thick layer of smog.
So random. Furnas is known mostly for the geysers and the lagoon. Halong bay mostly for, you know, the bay.

I was multiple times in Hallstatt and I everytime I was there it has gotten worse and that’s solely because it git more overhyped and overcrowded. The last time I was there was in 2019 and there were such enormous crowds of people in that small village that it got absolutely unbearable. Overtourism is really damaging to such small cities. Instagrammability says nothing about the beauty of a village, actually quite the contrary.
