It’s time for the Owain’s to go and for Hywel to take his crown as the true father of medieval Cymru, I guess starting with Gwynedd just because he had less of a cultural impact

The Owain Gwynedd slander here is real. The man nearly orchestrated the death of an English monarch in a battle he won whilst vastly outnumbered. His son also at the same time completely stopped an English flanking force with a small garrison and a bunch of commoners.
He then sent Henry a letter saying “too bad, so sad, not sorry lol” and declared himself princeps of Wales which sent Henry into a impotent rage which stayed with him until his death.
At the very least, the final should be the battle of the Owain’s…

He put up a valiant effort against the English, but it was short lived & quickly stamped out.
Gwynedd had much more of a long-term cultural impact on Wales, as did Hywel Dda. I think they should be in the final against one another. And I say this as someone who has a deep appreciation for rebelling against English authority 😂
I’m sadly totally ignorant of this history. Where is the best book/media for me to learn it?
