  3. Kamala is actually running a good consistent campaign, Trump got two boosts after Biden fell apart during the debate and he got his ear clipped but since then it’s all been downhill for his campaign

  4. Apparently Trump’s ground game is terrible. I heard the closed a bunch of offices in swing states….

    Edit: there was an MSNBC piece on it. Also there are articles from April and May from various outlets. Basically they are paying other entities to do it.

I mean of course between the fact that she’s proving to be an appealing candidate, her campaign is doing a masterful job showcasing how messed up Trump/the Republicans are, and the fact that Trump continues to say and do stupid shit on a daily basis that turns off anyone who isn’t a brainwashed MAGA, I’d be shocked if it wasn’t trending this way.

    People need to vote but I’d be shocked if we don’t see bigger gaps in the coming weeks.

  8. Polling and the national mood will change in the coming days. What’s important about this trend is that the positive energy and the message of hope that Harris brings to the table are resonating with independents and undecided voters.

    They can envision their support of a Harris presidency, and they are disgusted with a Trump 2.0 presidency. That is the mood these voters need to solidify and bring with them when they fill the ballot this November.

    We can help amplify this mood by continuing to bring positivity and hope to the forefront of what will be heated (and on Trump’s end, assuredly and already nasty) political discussions in the coming weeks.

    We are not going back. We choose hope.

  10. Check out trump’s rally today, it’s black woman after black woman coming up on stage. They are trying so hard to get the minority votes. We’re not going back!

  12. I do wish I could be a fly on the wall of her campaign right now. So far it seems like they’re almost gleefully(?) taunting him while touting generally more well liked policies. It’s not exactly new messaging, but I don’t think it’s ever been as effective as it is at the moment.

  13. I was a Republican in my first election back in 1988, because I hadn’t been paying attention and immediately thereafter filed independent, where I’ve been since.

    Once Harris is the confirmed nominee, I’m registering as a democrat, volunteering, and donating any penny I can spare to oppose the MAGAts.

    They don’t deserve to live in the greatest nation on earth if they don’t believe in the democratic process that created it and are so susceptible to the manipulation of the right wing forces that feed them their Fox News propaganda.

  16. This trend is surfacing as Trump is backing out of the debate. He is already in a tough position chicken out, but if her numbers keep growing and he does nothing to combat it, then he is only further painting himself in a corner.

  17. It’s amazing how long opportunist Republicans and the media have been able to prop up and pretend that Trump was a legitimate president and now a candidate. Trump is the shit stain on America that will never wash off. I predict history will try to pretend Trump never happened.

  18. People now have a candidate with substance. Everyone sees it and Trump appears more and more as an empty container. This isn’t going to change. So I think the trend will only grow.

It has now been nearly two weeks since [Joe Biden withdrew](https://nymag.com/intelligencer/article/the-dnc-already-is-an-open-convention.html) from the 2024 presidential race and endorsed [Kamala Harris](https://nymag.com/intelligencer/article/kamala-harris-campaign-turnaround.html) as his presumptive replacement as Democratic nominee. Unsurprisingly, Harris got a quick [bounce in the polls](https://nymag.com/intelligencer/article/harris-vs-trump-polls-its-a-new-race.html) as the new, younger, and fresher rival to [Donald Trump](https://nymag.com/intelligencer/article/how-trump-could-actually-distance-himself-from-project-2025.html). But now it’s becoming clear this was a trend, not just a momentary bounce.

    According to the [FiveThirtyEight national polling averages](https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/polls/president-general/2024/national/), Harris is leading Trump by 1.4 percent (45.0 to 43.6 percent), with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. at 5.6 percent. When Biden dropped out, he was trailing in the same averages by 3.2 percent. In a contest as static as the 2024 presidential race had been, that’s a big swing.
