  1. Can someone ELI5 to me how political polls with 1000 respondents are accurate? I see them all the time yet in the end they are usually not connected with how reality plays out.

  2. The next step is the division of the Red Party into three parties: the Red Party, the Progressive Revolutionary Red Party, and the People’s Red Party.

  3. – Ap (Labour): Social democracy/Neoliberalism
    – H (Conservative): Liberal conservatism, Pro-EU
    – Sp (Centre): Agrarianism, Anti-EU
    – FrP (Progress): National conservatism, Anti-immigration
    – SV (Socialist Left): Eco-socialism, Anti-EU
    – R (Red): Communism, Marxism, Anti-EU
    – V (Liberal): Liberalism, Pro-EU
    – MDG (Green): Enviromentalism
    – KrF (Christian Democractic): Christian democracy, Social conservatism

  4. The government is Ap+Sp with the outside support of SV.

Usually when the incumbent government is unpopular, the opposite bloc capitalizes on the dissatisfaction of the public. However Red as a left-wing oppositon has managed to dominate the debate, as the right-wing bloc failed to provide solutions to the energy price crisis.

  5. Norway had elections recently and they’re not a country that has snap elections every now and then like Italy or Bulgaria, so the polls right now are not really important, they’re more like the German Green surge 2 years before the election.

Things can change a lot until the next Norwegian election.

  6. OK before I go REEEE like the rest of the comments without knowing jackshit about Norwegian politics, could a Norwegian explain the political landscape, what this communist party stands for and why it has had such a strong increase in support?

  7. If the Communists won in Norway and started turning Norway into a Communist country, would that require small changes or many large changes?

  8. What’s next, splitting Sweden and/or Finland between Norway and Russia? I’m of course joking but rings a bell.

  9. Comments full of marxist understanders. Also, how many people here actually went to check their platform before criticizing?

Besides, elections there are not in any time soon, things can and probably will change.

  10. ITT: people who think communists that operate in western liberal democracies are the same as those who operated behind the iron curtain

  11. A party that is not doing only what the bourgeois want? A party that is not privatizing even more public services? A party that is not removing welfare benefits in the name of austerity?

    Crazy!

Good thing that here in Eastern Europe we can only choose between neoliberal and fascist parties.

  12. This isn’t an achievement, this is a travesty. Same if a fascist party became popular, the far-left have killed millions with their fucked up systems and ideologies. Sure it comes from a wonderful place, just here to help the working class, until they let the power go to their head and create the hierarchy they were supposed to overthrow.
