Is it just more visible now because of social media, or has there always been this amount of creeps about? Stalking is a seriously scummy thing to do and unfortunately the police and courts over here don’t take it seriously
That sounds terrible. You should document every interaction you have with this guy and report it to the police every time. They’ll have to take action if they can see it’s an ongoing problem.

Odds are she’s probably seen him somewhere, maybe she smiled at him in passing or maybe it just looked to him like she was smiling at him. In his head he’s thought that she likes him and he’s done some wild mental gymnastics to convince himself of this to a point that qualifies as obsessive behaviour.
It looks like internalised obsession has apparently now evolved into outward acts of stalking and other forms of abnormal behaviour.
Or maybe I’m just looking too far into it, I’m not a psychologist but to me if someone like that has reality come crashing down on them and they come to the realisation that actually she doesn’t like him and that he can’t have her, is it possible he would graduate from stalking onto violence? I think possibly yes.
I’d be thinking about a court sanctioned restraining order if I was her.
Delusions of romantic infatuation that aren’t there is a symptom of schizophrenia. If that’s what it is hopefully this person gets help. Thatched though, this is also harassment and the police need to be aware of any and all events, with as much documentation as possible. Aim to apply for a non mol. Hopefully you identify him through Internet.
