There is a non zero chance that this team would beat the “first” eleven

It’s a lot of bodies to move
I can’t see us offloading all of them. We will also inevitably lose value selling so many pieces. It’s bad business IMO.
At the same time, most of these players are players that should have been sold a year + ago
aside from Rugani im down to say goodbye to all of them.
I don’t see it happening. I don’t think the goal is to offload all of them either but they’re guaranteed not starters. I think most will stay as backups, otherwise we’ll have no depth.
Szczesny, Rugani, McKennie and Nicolussi-Caviglia are the puzzlers for me.
Szczesny is still one of the better keepers in the world. Yes, he’ll be declining soon, and moving him will get lots of wages off the books, but if we can’t move him in the end and still have to pay his wages, he would still have value, so there’s no point alienating him.
Rugani I still feel is backup quality for this team. His wages aren’t crazy, and he as a player is fine sitting on the bench too which is something needed from bench players. I’d get it if we have too many CBs and need to offload, but we’re not in that situation.
McKennie I think is on his last year on his contract from what people are saying, so that would make sense I guess, especially if he’s asking for more money as the rumors go. Having said that, I still think he’s a good rotational player, as long as he’s not asking for crazy wages.
Ncolussi-Caviglia as far as I know isn’t on crazy wages since he’s barely played with the first team, and he’s still only 24, so I don’t get why he’s being dumped. The only thing I can think of is maybe there’s a logjam with Locatelli, Fagioli, Miretti, Thuram, Luiz, and whoever else I’m missing. But with Rabiot gone and McKennie on the chopping block, I don’t know why we’re so eager to dump Nicolussi-Caviglia. Maybe he’s demanding first-team minutes?
Nicolussi Chiesa Milik Rugani deserve to stay imo
I don’t understand why we do need to sell\loan Djalo, when he can start on the left side. It can mean that we are going to play with 3 CBs. No fullbacks for the right side is a bad sign. We are rebuilding the midfield, but doesn’t have proper fullbacks and wingers. And even if we will buy more players, there is no time to integrate them into team. For my taste it’s too radical changes for one transfer window.
I always had high hopes for hans
Poor old Szczesney. He’s been rock solid enough through the years and now surplus to requirements. Football is a funny old game.
Ok but don’t touch Arek…
If we manage to offload at least half of them, I’ll be a happy man.
For anyone still wondering why we’re selling players X or Y:
* **Tek** – crazy high wages (12 mln, second highest in the team), already got replacement.
* **Djalo** – likely not selling, just loaning cuz he needs playtime after the long injury.
* **Rugani, De Sciglio, Arthur, Kostic, Milik** – not good enough for the team. At most these are bench players and pretty much nobody here provides you with any real “depth” – apart from maybe Milik (occasionally) and Rugani (in literally half a season during his EIGHT fucking SEASONS with us).
* **Gonzalez, Caviglia** – youth prospects, deemed not good enough right now and/or with not enough potential – used to generate fresh cash for more important players.
* **Chiesa, McKennie** – on their last years of contract, don’t want to renew (asking for higher wages) so the choice is simple: sell them now for absolutely anything or let them go for free in 12 months.
So good job on identifying these as selling material, now onto the hard part – actually managing to sell them for *some* cash.
