Looking for places to camp out in these areas for a day or two during my solo trip to Europe. Somewhere that is locally famous like a nice lake or a beach where I can camp for free chill and meet local people. Thanks in advance:)

  1. wild camping is not allowed in Germany and will be heavily fined

  2. Do you even realize what a HUGE area you’ve circled in there?

  3. Mecklenburger Seenplatte is supposed to be really nice, there is probably a bunch of camping spots there (Campingplätze)

  4. Look for campgrounds, because wild camping is not allowed.

A campgrounds will cost you maybe €10 to €15 per night, but you then have access to showers, toilets, etc. and don’t risk being fined or arrested.

South of Berlin there are some very nice areas like the Elbsandsteingebirge, Spreewald, and lots of other areas with beautiful natural areas to explore.

  5. The Government does not want you to have fun, therefore wildcamping is forbidden in Germany. You need to research where it is specifically allowed

  6. Bantikow. Small camping site, beautiful quiet lake for swimming (no boats with engines allowed).

  7. Take 2-3 days for a kayak trip at Spreewald, maybe rent one and start in Burg and go to Lübbenau. There are spots for “Wasserwanderer” (water hikers) to camp. It’s a view of Germany that is highly untypical but more than beautiful.
