Because no one reports their tips anyways.
Project 2025 wants is eliminate unions. GOP has been pushing the union busting “Right to Work” bullshit for years.
Union strong!
Vote Blue.
It’s almost like they know he’s full of shit, and that was an empty promise.
He would get rid of tax on tips AND get rid of minimum wage. That snake speaks with a forked tongue.
The Ted Cruz written bill on tax free tips is a scam. It doesn’t apply to anyone making a normal wage and will be used by hedge fund managers, lawyers, etc so they can convert their fees into “tips” so they won’t have to pay taxes on it.
As if he’d even keep that promise. I work on the Vegas strip as a bartender and people have tried wooing me into the Trump camp with this. Even if he wasn’t a complete liar, I’d still rather be taxed on my tips than live in an authoritarian theocracy, so I’ll pass.
Also great:
>The endorsement includes a commitment by the union to have its members knock on more than 3.3 million doors for Harris in swing states that include Pennsylvania, Michigan, Nevada, Arizona and North Carolina.
Even if he could, Trump would never pursue making tips tax free.
Just like he would never pursue making Social Security payments tax free beyond Nov 4th.
I hope the former Reid coalition comes together for Harris in Nevada.
I think most hospitality workers would rather have better health insurance benefits than untaxed tips
I mean… there is never tax on cash tips… unless you declare them all, which you would be foolish to do,
If he’s not collecting taxes, who is paying off the national debt? He’s already run the debt up higher than any President in history.
I don’t want to burden the future with his personal wealth conquest.
No surprise here. I don’t really see republicans following through on this promise. Say nothing of the fact that no tax on tips isn’t going to really matter when the restaurant industry gets depressed because of Trump’s tariffs.
You can tell these guys have never worked for tips. If they had they would know that most people are already getting tax free tips.
Trump doesn’t pay half the people who work for him, so why would he give two shits about “the help’s” tips?
Honestly if I were harris, Id just say good idea, what else? And if any republicans push back, point out it was their idea.
These are my favorite stories. It shows how far Unions have gone from their constituents. The management has built these strong bonds with Democrats but their members are not interested in voting for Democrats en masse anymore. Good luck telling a steamfitter or longshoremen or an autoworker that the party that has stifled the economy, doesn’t like energy and thinks they should learn to code is for them.
Nobody believes promises from MAGA world.
I’ll vote for whoever makes tipping illegal entirely.
This push is because service workers started having to report their tips as income more frequently post covid.
It’s about as low information voter as you can get, since many restaurants still work around reporting your full wages.
It’s a scam. Who wants their social security calculated on the $2.13/hr most servers make. And it’s a way to prevent anyone from raising the minimum wage. We just need billionaires to pay their fair share. Problems solved.
The only free tip you need is not to vote for this fool.
Wait. You’re telling me, people don’t trust Trump when he promises a thing (especially about money)?
Weird. I wonder why.
