Taliban leaders filmed in Afghanistan dancing despite ban

Taliban officials in Afghanistan have been filmed dancing to music, which was banned when they seized power.

The militant group not only banned music but also publicly beat and humiliated musicians, the custodians of rapidly disappearing Afghan cultural traditions.

The Taliban’s morality police patrol streets day and night. Afghans caught breaking the ban can be beaten or jailed.

  1. It is not hypocrisy…this is how laws got lighten up and this is how change begins…Europe in the 1800 had ridiculous laws andprobably now….Democracy at times is not a label but a progression in behavior which allows laws to become relaxed and progressive….in others words give the ppl a chance to grow….it is a matter of perspective….

  2. No, that's not what they mean. The Taliban can dance but not the people they kept hostage under their rule. Got it?

  3. First of all, Taliban allows music and dancing in some circumstances, just no filming them, and it this case it seems they are being filmed by someone with out their consent

Secondly , the dance they are performing is not an ordinary dance, it’s a dance called ATTAN in which the Pashtuns have been doing for the past 5,000 years. It is done before going into battle and also it is a victory tribal dance.

Hate them, laugh at them, mock them – when it comes to the battle field, they are the chosen ones.
