It would gave brought Russia and the USA into an unmanageable conflict how? If Ukraine strokes putin and defence ministers then that’s on Ukraine. USA shouldn’t have a choice. They need to stop playing with what Ukraine can do and actually let them win the war.

That is some BS if true.
The US don’t want to see Putin fall. They want to have him in power in order to have nuclear weapons managed by a known and predictable force, who is able to control the Russian state and ensure internal stability. If Putin falls, they fear an unpredictable and fanatic force could seize the control of nuclear weapons amid a crisis of internal instability. This is also the reason why they are drip-feeding aid to Ukraine: Ukraine must not win in a decisive way, because this could topple the regime and destabilize Russia. If Russia did not have nuclear weapons, I’m sure they would have been defeated long ago without many second thoughts.

The whole tone of Ryabkov’s comments is that adult Russia had to make the United States stop petulant child Ukraine doing something wreckless and bad that “would have plunged Russia and the United States into an unmanageable conflict.”
I can see why Ukraine would report Ryabkov’s comments – irregardless if they’re true or not – because it makes Ukraine’s Security Services look omnipresent.

Yeah the US also prevented Ukraine from taking out Valery Gerasimov early in the war too. Not really shocking at all given what a shitstorm that would have been then, and ESPECIALLY now if they got putin of all people.

The harsh truth is that having Russia committed to Ukraine is a strategic opportunity for everyone else. Long term it’s more beneficial to keep a predictable Putin in power. It’s sad, nonetheless.

So to save the face Nazi Russia lies “as usual” and tell the world they are fighting USA or Nato when they in-fact get their as spanked by Ukraine and Ukraine only. Both Russia and Ukraine gets aid from other country’s. And the worst thing for Nazi Russia! Nobody fears them anymore and that is whats hurt them the most.

Russia would love nothing more than for the world to believe that the USA is controlling the course of the invasion. They are still desperate to prove that “Ukraine” is just a bunch of foreign puppets ruling over a race of desperately oppressed Russians who have been divorced from their Motherland, all controlled by the wicked USA pulling all the strings.
Ironically — or perhaps not — this is exactly Putin’s own vision for Russian influence in the 21st century — a bunch of nations coerced into calling themselves “Russia” but actually trying to preserve some tiny bit of independence and cultural memory from a cynical, amoral political monstrosity based in Moscow that is pulling all the strings.
So it’s just a bunch more deflection, like always.

Everyone really falling for a Russian sourced story designed to drive a wedge between the US and Ukraine?
Consider: If Russia knew they would just have sent a body double / moved the event / put a basket of kittens and puppies in the path of the missile to get a propaganda win from this.
FWIW, hitting Putin and the Defense Minister wouldn’t stop the war, or prevent any Ukrainian Defenders from dying. Better to target weapons depots and drone factories.

Answer: the US administration.
There have been many attempts on Zelensky’s life, so this would in no way have been an escalation. If the US blocked this, which could have been a route to peace and leaves Ukraine stuck in an indeterminable war, then they need to answer how they will make up for this.
One key way would be to encourage and support Ukraine’s long range attacks against refineries, weapons factories and the airbases within Russia that Russia launches attack on children’s hospitals from.
Frankly, independent of what happened here, Ukraine should be encouraged to attack such targets. Contact your representatives today, especially if they are in the US congress, ask them what they are doing and demand action to help Ukraine attack Russia’s military supporting assets directly.
There is a really good chance that that person is not Putin.
