A one off payment to tackle an ever increasing cost? How’s that gonna help in the long run?
What does this do for anyone? It’s €100 which wouldn’t get much (for the people who receive it).
Why not focus on measures for everyone (including those who will be paying for the measures). Reducing the price of customs and excise on things like diesel and petrol, or reducing the cost of public transport or some such would be far better.
I’d prefer another block of Recession Cheese instead to be honest
Are the middle class as usual left to fend for themselves?
May as well fly a blimp over the city and toss coins to the masses below. Would be just about as helpful as a measly €100 for a constantly increasing cost of living.
€100? That would get me to work and back for one whole entire week! Thanks FF, so generous 😍
putting it into the social welfare payment is a bit silly, i mean its not as if its going to go where its intended if they do that. Surely a credit on everyone’s bill is the easier way to go
This government could really help if they wanted to but the sad reality is that they don’t want to! They just want to look good.
Do the government not know that everyone from low – medium incomes are struggling rn, its a fucking joke. Heating costs, insurance, child care and rent eat up most of my wages every month but cause I earn enough to just about scrape by it will exclude from any incentives to reduce some of the pain.
I swear to god this country makes it more attractive to not work than actually try and succeed
Talking about trying to buy votes…. A one of payment and when that payment is gone on the bills ye are on yere own…
Jaysus. That won’t go very far in my weekly Marks and Sparks shop.
I know everyone’s giving them shit for this and rightly so, but I just want to know what’s a low-income household. If I’m renting in a house-share are my housemates income taken into account?
I haven’t had a salary in 6 months, I’m not gonna say no to 100 quid if I can get it.
Life on the dole is good. With some side odd jobs not declared. You have all the free time in the world, and enough money to enjoy a good life in Ireland. Spend a lot of time with friends and family, hobbies. Extra 100 euro is bonus!
If you have a roof over your head, living on the dole is unreal.
He’s fixing the roads! Charlie would be proud
This fucking fixes NOTHING!!!!
I wish I worked at a job where I only had to throw public money at a problem without thinking and never faced the consequences of such stupid actions.
They should just gift us a unique NFT instead

The way things are going this may include anyone on under 100k a year…..prices are ridiculous at the moment
How will they define low income? Will it be people who earn under a certain threshold? My humble opinion is that this should include people on a decent wage who spend most of their wages on rent/heat/transport and are left equally as bad off as those on a low wage. Our local food bank has families using it with two incomes but spending €1700 a month on rent and a further €400 on transport. Poor doesn’t always mean low wages or social welfare.
Funny how they make it sound like it’s a benefit to people. The fact that taxpayers money goes to private businesses only really helps the company’s and share holder’s.
What a load of cock.
This will work out well… more fucking inflation
We’ve tried nothing and we are all out of ideas man
This attitude of ‘free money’ is precisely why there’s a cost of living crisis.
Would they ever fuck off with their US borrowed ideas? This does *nothing* for us whereas maybe some sensible tax relief on energy deducted at source or a review of VAT rate on some goods etc…oh no. Let’s give everyone a payment. That’s a targeted response and in no way a votes ploy.
Whatever happens to FFG whinging about SF and their populist magical money tree, and here are FFG throwing money at people in the form of this scheme, tax back on fuel costs and a grand for frontline medical workers?
Honestly feels like an easy vote-buying scheme to me that’s easy to do.
“Let’s throw the peasants a few crumbs”
Still waiting on the 100 of the lecky. Will be waiting for this too. Load of bollocks.
We created inflation by printing loads of money due to covid. This has destroyed purchasing power for everyone. We will now print even more money to help fight the ramifications of inflation and decreased purchasing power 🤡
100 quid? 🤣 – I don’t fall under that bracket but that’s an insulting number, you can spend that faster than you can blink
In the not so distant future Ireland will no longer be able to retain talent, millennials and Gen Z will continue to emigrate to the states and other countries that offer a better way of life for your hard work!
Ireland will be become a sanctuary for the bums and those who live off the government who are providing for them on backs of hard working tax payers, basically the more you earn the more your fucked. 🖕🏼
Is it 10-15 years from now?
Titanic to get new string quartet
But that would only increase inflation by putting more money into peoples hands to spend. It’s a pure gimmick, for the sake of votes.
Watch as every misfortunate cunt who lives in a houseshare is excluded from this cause this is calculated on a household basis as opposed to an individual basis. Generation rent gets fucked over again.
Happy for my near 50% effective tax rate can go to fund further initiatives that I can’t benefit from. Meanwhile absolutely nothing done to help renters paying upwards of €1000 a month for a shitty apartment or increase housing supply so some of us can actually afford a house.

[Cost of living in ireland is estimated at €898 for a single person living in Dublin, before rent.](https://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/in/Dublin)
€100 will last 3.45 days.
