Why this particular place is always windy? I am observing from more than a week …

  1. Because there are the Harz mountains. With a maximal elevation of slightly above 1000m by far the highest thing in northern Germany and the first barrier the wind from the North Sea hits when it flows inland.

  2. Because of the mountains surrounding the area, also it’s been windy near the dutch border too the last couple weeks.

  3. It’s been windy for the past two weeks here in Berlin. It’s unusual to have such a long windy streak. Maybe that also applies there.

  4. Another fun fact:
Lower saxony and nearby regions in the north are “germanys tornado valley”. Actually more “tornados” (called “orkan” in german) than in california.

  5. Hannover. Went there two times.

First time, I had to buy a 299 eur jacket to not die because of cold/wind/rain.

Second time, with the same jacket, still felt the cold.
