>Migrants would be sent to private accommodation, former care homes andstudent blocks instead of large ex-RAF bases and the Bibby Stockholmbarge
So the Government will be funding building of new facilities for UK students and people in need of care…? I’m assuming additional housing stock will be released so it’s not harder for UK citizens to find accommodation…?
To try and load-balance rather than just be accused of certain areas being used as a “dumping ground” for the waifs and strays of the world.
Until a long-term solution and functioning migration system is back in place, they have any decisions on applications or actual processes for removal. If those applications are denied, they have to exist somewhere.
Can’t just put them on the street (nor should homelessness even be a thing in this country, and wouldn’t be had we actually had a proper amount of social housing built to replace those sold under right-to-buy).
Should build a facility on one of our many unused islands scattered around the globe and house them there until processing. Works for Australia
I hope you’re all working hard today as you’re all paying for this.
No one arriving illegally in the UK & claiming asylum should exit specially built government holding facilities until their asylum claim is processed. If their claim is successful then they can be released and have access to benefits, suitable accommodation etc. If they are unsuccessful they should be repatriated to the country of origin.
Not one asylum seeker should be at large in society. Not one asylum seeker should be living in a hotel or other accommodation in British towns or cities, ready to disappear when they are told their application has been rejected.
If asylum seekers knew before they arrived that they would be held in a secure facility until their claim was processed the number of economic migrants would fall through the floor. The reason people come is they know if their claim is unsuccessful they can just disappear into society and never be seen again and have virtually no chance of being deported unless they voluntarily report.
The facilities should not be prison like or unsuitable like the ship idea and they should not be punitive, but until its clear an asylum seeker will not be at large in British society when they arrive and will not be allowed outside the facility unless their asylum claim is successful we will continue to be a soft touch and net migration will continue to soar.
As it stands over 1/3rd of all asylum seekers are unsuccessful and we deport a tiny fraction of that number with the rest at large.
It has to stop, and the far left have to stop fighting deportations.
These migrant situation will just get worse with climate change.
And people wonder who gave those Nazis rallying power. Normal people forced to live with foreigners who share non of the culture or even the language, creating a miserable situation for both sides, and the capable moves away, leaving only the poor and struggling ones. And they get radicalized with a simple snap.
And you still won’t see a single immigrant in the posh areas that our wonderful MP’s live in.!
Good, too many unskilled immigration proponents are living in places shielded from the effects, while they deride the people bearing the brunt of the impact as brainless idiots for complaining when it isn’t their family that has to live with an asylum hotel on their corner. If these irregular migrants are as great for the country as the proponents claim they are, it’s only fair that all areas share in the benefit.
Labour continue to spear their historical voters. I guarantee they will be northern or Midland towns with cheap terraced housing. You want to send a message to the tories? Send them to the home counties!
We’ve had a huge influx over the last two years of asylum seekers and refugees in my northern city. It has completely changed the demographic of my city.
Genuine questions:
When is it enough? When will you *(or any other european countries for that matter)* stop accepting migrants? Is there no end to this? Will they ever be sent back where they came from *(assuming the country they came from is eventually deemed safe)?*
Whats wrong with ex RAF bases?
Or did they just low key admit forces accommodation is trash
It is a bit frustrating that Labour get all the bad press trying to deal with the asylum ticking bomb left by the tories. Like all this was already happening, but it wasn’t reported on because people were more concerned with “Rwanda scheme” and “Boris having a party”.
Is this government completely tone deaf or what.
So the response to anti-government and anti-immigration protests and riots is to send MORE immigrants to those places.
Labour will be different to the Tories guys! – Source: Trust me bro
What’s the best way to stop the riots? Give them MORE of what they are rioting ABOUT?
So that’s why my kids came home from school and enjoyed practicing hiding and evading in class.
How long before even talking about this is considered a crime?
I hope the government prioritizes sending asylum seekers to the elite areas of the UK – cotswolds/balmoral/sandringham.
These places never have any diversity.
Historically the poor working class areas of the UK have been the number 1 regions.
I was initially against tents but it is better than moving them into already stretched communities. UN tents on old military sites which can be easily secured has got to be cheaper and less divisive than hotels or dispersal, but the best solution is processing them abroad.
Who is asking or voting for this ? It seems a constant, yet there is seemingly no counterpoint that assists in the lives of the electorate
Do you want Prime Minister Farage? Cos this is how you get Prime Minister Farage
It seems that it would be a lot simpler to just stop allowing more into the country but I guess that’s too high level thinking for the government.
