Am I being stupid, but once it’s discovered that a girl or women has be subjected to FGM why aren’t the parents at the very least interviewed under caution?
The British tried stomping this out in Africa where they went and had more success it seems then than now inside our own borders.
Should be a mandatory jail term for both parents. With extra time added if they don’t give evidence against the persons who arranged and performed the procedure.
Child abuse needs stamping out.
How would the authorities find out though?
To be clear, I’m completely against it. Just wondering how any cases are going to come to light.

It shouldn’t be called “female circumcision”. It’s closer to castration in every sense except the reproductive
Jee, It must be extremely difficult to find out who is responsible for this in the UK…
It deserves a life sentence, for both the perpetrators and those who commission them.
Back when I was teaching, there was a girl in my class who was considered at high risk of being subjected to this, as well as an arranged marriage. All unauthorised absences had to be reported to the office as soon as the register was taken for her own safety. This girl was six years old. Her parents were awful to her but treated her older brother like a saint (he was a cunt to his sister too). I never met her mum but met her dad once at parents’ evening and he could not have cared less about his daughter and I knew that within the spade of a five minute chat, where he did not even speak to me while I told him about his daughter. It’s no surprise his daughter loved her teachers more than her parents and formed very strong attachments to us all.
Parents who subject their daughters to this deserve to lose all access to their child and face serious consequences for their decision to inflict such harm on them. It is an obscene practice and needs to be stamped out worldwide.
Hate that the far right have jumped on this issue but it seriously needs depolitcising and resolving with a clear objective and not demonising communities.
The people who do this and the parents who condone it need a bullet. These poor children, makes my blood boil
Shame it’s due to Asian gangs in the North, probably connected in some way to grooming gangs, and as such the police will do nothing.
All GM needs to be banned, cutting one’s skin off should not be part of any religion at all.
It should be seen as the same crime as assaulting a person with a deadly weapon IMO
Just another wonderful contribution multiculturalism brings to our country.
