Pricey Veneers Have Made Hollywood Smiles Too Perfect; With $60,000 smiles now de rigueur among actors, not everyone is smiling. Make-up artists are forced to fit actors with dirty-looking dentures and more realistic prosthetics to play everyday people.

  1. I miss seeing natural teeth in films/tv, it made the characters seem more realistic.

  2. It’s weird to watch movies that are supposed to be about poor people 100 years ago and they all have blindingly white, perfectly straight teeth.

And everyone still has all their teeth too, even old people. I have two implants from knocking out my front teeth because I tripped, and I grew up in an era of helmets and protective gear and safety rules. Missing teeth and janky dentures were common. Even film makers that go for “gritty realism” skip the teeth

  3. Even in real life it’s jarring when people who had perfectly fine teeth suddenly show up with veneers after their vacation to Turkey or Vietnam.

  4. The teeth of Temeuera Robinson were shining brighter than the sun in Boba Fett. It was really distracting.

  5. In the zombie apocalypse, everyone has perfect teeth. Except the bad guys. Lol

  6. It’s refreshing when actresses keep an imperfect tooth or two; Zendaya, Kirsten Dunst, Yvonne Strahovski for example.

  7. The first film where this became a problem for m was Terminator Salvation. All the post apocalyptic-expletive had perfect, shiny teeth

  8. Ian McShanes teeth in the last season of American Gods were so alarming.

  9. There’s a guy who models for an underwear company I like and his weird fuckin’ teeth genuinely remind me of uncanny valley. He’s a handsome guy in amazing shape and great tattoos and his teeth just gross me out.

  10. Veneers completely take me out of whatever movie/show I’m watching, especially if the characters portrayed are supposed to be poor. It kind of ruined Always Sunny in Philadelphia for me because all of the characters suddenly look rich as fuck with all of their veneers & plastic surgery.

  11. I was watching the HoTD finale when the Lannister was fighting the Triarchy Queen. She was supposed to be a salty gritty sailor but she had WAAAAY better teeth than the Lannister. I know perfect teeth can be genetic sometimes, but she had CHOMPERS without a single blemish outside of the grayish paint they kinda put on her.
