Ukraine launches attack on Russia’s Kursk region

Russia accused Ukraine on Tuesday (August 6) of mounting an attack on its southern border and said it had moved in reserves to help repel hundreds of fighters backed by tanks.

Hours after a Russian regional governor said the attackers had been pushed back, the defense ministry issued a statement saying that fighting was still going on.

“Troops covering the state border, together with units of the border troops of the FSB (security service) of Russia, are repelling attacks and inflicting fire on the enemy in the area of ​​the state border and on (Ukrainian) reserves in the Sumy region,” the statement said.

  3. Zelenskyy already wasted thousands of troops and dozens of armored vehicles in these crazy border PR/media hype operations. I'm sure this lunatic operation will end up in disaster as usual. It's happening when Ukrainian army is crumbling on several vital directions of the front which is making it even crazier. Zelenskyy should have learned from his mustached predecessor's experience in 1945 that kidnapping hapless cannon fodder off the streets when the war is already lost is no good.

  15. The building shown at 0:24 is her: Ulitsa Karla Libknekhta, 34, Sudzha, Kurskaya oblast', Russia, 307800. Look it up on Google Maps, it was delelict when Google Streetview took images, so clearly NOT damaged in the attack.

  27. It appears that at least 50 or so Russian soldiers have already surrendered, and at least 2 Russian tanks have been destroyed while still on their trailers. A Kh-52 attack helicopter was also shot down, and Ukrainian Su-25 attack jets have been observed flying low and hitting targets around the city as Russian forces in the area attempt to respond.

    They're getting pushed back in the well fortified east, have manpower issues and now going for a third pr campaign into Russian territory.

    The last 2 did nothing yet they continue.

    These units should be defending the east. Madness startegy given the situation.
