Is that a good idea? “Your jobs are obsolete” we are on strike wait, what? never mind.
I feel bad for them. I really do, job security is important
The thing with our civilization is that we’re always evolving in science and technology… Every couple of years our decade something new comes out that renders people obsolete and as the years go by, these changes happen at an even faster rate
Won’t AI just replace them?
Video game acting is the least important type of acting, this strike is going to be funny when the game companies just ignore it.
guess we won’t be getting gta6 anytime soon
Unfortunately, they’re not doing it in an effective way. Games that began production before September 2023 are exempt, so a lot of the big titles (e.g. GTA 6) that could really make an impact against the industry aren’t included.
We’re back at the stage where people believe AI voice is good enough to take jobs?
I stand with the actors. Unfortunately they don’t have a leg to stand on.
My dad was a betamax vcr repairman so I guess I’m biased.
I think a part of this that most people don’t understand is that these companies are using A.I. to steal voice actor’s voices. They can hire a voice actor to record a small part in a game, and only record them for two hours. But in the contract that everyone has to sign, there is language that states they own the voice forever, and can do whatever they want with it. Which means, That bit actor’s voice could be the lead in different game. It could be the next Nathan Drake, and that original actor will never see a dime for it. They could also use that actor’s voice in a porn video game and the actor has no say. It’s brutal, and cynical, and blatantly unfair.
These companies have been asked to remove this language from their contracts…they always refuse.
