  11. I literally just read Alyssa Mastromonaco’s book on her experiences as White House Deputy Chief of Staff to Obama, and she talked about how she basically instituted tampon dispensers at the White House because it was ridiculously inconvenient for women there to get tampons.

    This is… basic stuff, like condoms in bars or university clinics.

  30. This is it, the Culture War is all they have left, because that’s the only appeal to fear and anger that won’t ever get stale.

    If every single Democrat is soft on crime, weak on the border, and taxing the fuck out of us, then a Democrat being soft on crime, weak on the border, and taxing the fuck out of us stops being urgent. Their urgent issues have taken the form of ridiculous things like specific female boxers destroying sports, or the illustrations of the female body appearing in a school library’s book. They will never, ever run out of microaggressions that conflict with anything resembling a christofascist utopia.

    And this manufactured outrage machine is loyal, but the thing is that being outraged is fucking exhausting. And it’s becoming increasingly clear that Trump doesn’t actually give a fuck about any of this and just airs his grievances like a checklist while repeating whatever takes “the base” is vibing with every time he speaks.

    It’s devolved into self-parody now. The actual foundations of conservatism, like taxes and regulations and spending, are viewed entirely through whatever lens is personally advantageous to Trump.

    This all has diminishing returns, and Harris injected energy into the race that the culture war won’t overtake – people are getting sick of being angry on cue.

Surely every woman has some sort of embarrassing period story and I’m willing to bet that a lot of them are when we are young and still trying to figure out how this shit is supposed to work. I would GLADLY give my tax dollars to make sure menstruating adolescents have access to free menstrual products- NO ONE should have to wad up a bunch of toilet paper in lieu of a pad because their family is too poor to afford pads so you have to try and ration them.
