I have a very specific question about drone flying.
I’m from the Netherlands and planning to make a trip to Norway in the coming weeks. A friend of mine owns a DJI mini 3 (so under 250g) and is willing to lend out his drone to me.
The drone is registered in The Netherlands and has the operator number on it. However it’s registered on my friends name.
Am I allowed to fly the drone in Norway? I cannot find the answer for my specific situation..
What I understand from the picture I do not need any specific certificates for flying the drone. But is it a problem that the drone is registered on my friend name in The Netherlands?
I have a liability insurance.

You should have your own operator number on it because that number is personal
You need to pay a fee of 230 NOK and register on [www.flydrone.no](http://www.flydrone.no) to legally operate a drone with a camera, even if it’s below 250g. Click “Person – from the age of 16” to see more info.
You also have to have an insurance. And you need to keep the drone 5 km away from restricted areas (which you can find on the free app NiNox Drone – which is a bit technical to use). Also stay below 120 meters and away from wild life conservation areas, stay away from people and at least 50 meter away from buildings. You can get permission from local air port tower to fly a drone closer than 5 km from the airport by submitting a request through NiNox drone or calling the tower itself. It’ve done it and it works.
In short: Flying drones in Norway has become a lot more restricted.
Be aware of [forbidden areas](https://www.safetofly.no/), stay at least 5km away from any airports or your drone will be confiscated and you will get a hefty fine (ca 12 000 NOK).
Beware and read up on our restricted areas. Foreign citizens get fined and deported for illegal drone flying so make sure you know you’re in the clear when flying here.
