  1. This is not an official CATU post, I was just an attendee. I have been in a bad place mentally this week after all of the racist violence, and attending this community cook out was the perfect medicine.

I just wanted to put this together to recognise all of the great and tireless work of the CATU volunteers who put this together, as well as the community members who came together. Its never been more important to highlight the true nature of our city and to spread the unity of the people who call this place home.

The true nature of this event was originally to organise the community to campaign for housing repairs from landlords and the Housing Executive, but in light of recent tragedies, I think it shows the alternative road to hatred, blame, and violence.

I would really appreciate if everyone shared/reposted this message, ahead of the counter protest on Friday, on whatever platforms you prefer.

Thank you to anyone who shares this around.

  2. Really lovely to see. Thank you for sharing this. This is the true spirit of Belfast..not a bunch of racist cunts.

  3. I like to pretend the guy in the orange striped Rangers shirt did a complete 180 and served up food at the cross-community cookout.

  4. Is that a mural of Rodney Trotter at the beginning?

  5. Drowning out the hate with acts of kindness and community is the way to go. The rioting is a minority trying to pretend they are the majority. Show them for what they are. A hateful minority surrounded by good, caring decent folk. UPPA PEACE AND LOVE, YEOOOOOOO!!!

  6. Yes this is a certain part of belfast, that people always knew was filled with people full or hate and raised to hated anything that’s not like them.

  7. People talk like this is some sort of new thing. People riot in Belfast every summer. Only difference is they’re targeting a different religion.

  8. It’s amazing to see how much Belfast has changed over the years—such a vibrant city now!

  9. Result of failed government policy and inaction in the UK

  10. Over 25 years we’ve tolerated violence and bigotry from one particular group.

Until this group is gone Belfast will continue to bring shame to the rest of us.

DUP begging the instigators to stop is just sad.

  11. Tingles in my spine now, good ones. Very infectious positivity. Thank you for sharing Xo 🙏

  12. We just need a Liam Neeson voiceover and it’s good to go Discover Northern Ireland. Really heart warming

  13. Now this is the Belfast I know and love. So much love and charisma in this place. This is what will outlive this current madness.
