Deleted the original and posted this with the proper title.
Fighting has also been reported in other villages in that area.
Edit: New reports are saying the troops seen in Anastas’evka were a recon unit that managed to ambush a Russian convoy.
Holy shit, they’re doing it. This invasion shows how weak Russia is when they’re not hiding behind layers and layers and layers of mines, with their weak military, and non-effective meat waves
Even if they don’t reach the NPP they’ve already cut the train line to Belgorod, weakening the Kharkiv offensive significantly.
Nuclear power plant is located at the lake in the top right corner.
Further proof that this special military operation into is bad for Putler and good for the Ukraine. Russia has no idea what to do and no human wave tactics to fall back on. Soon Kursk itself may fall.
I hope they properly capture the whole oblast and then use it for a swap with RU.
But I fear Putler will now use tactical nukes on whatever territory he concedes back to Ukraine.
And NATO will continue to pussy around.
so that is already 10km from where they were yesterday evening.
Reaching the Kursk power plant and shutting it down in controlled way would be such an event. Go for it.
Is this the beginning? The beginning of the end? I hope so…
At first i thought this is another short 24h attack. Nothing serious. But now i am wondering what will happen next and what their goals are.
Imagine they capture the NPP and use it as a comand post and secure a corridor to the border for resupply. And use this for further movements towards moscow lol. Time will tell and we will see what their goals are for now. Maybe they want the russians to relocate some troops and then start a big counterattack on the then weaker frontlines? Idk. Just thinking out loud.
If they reach the Kursk NPP and cut the power , it would be an epic embarasment for Putin!
The whole region without power would be massive chaos.
Fucking legends, can’t image how you can walk with those huge balls.
If the Ukrainian army continues to move northwards, it will come ever closer to the Kursk nuclear power plant. Are they perhaps planning to make a swap for the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant? The city of Kursk is certainly too big to be easily conquered with the existing Ukrainian soldiers. So let’s wait and keep our fingers crossed for the Ukrainians.
Go Ukraine!
I was under the impression that the russian 71st Guards Motorized Rifle Regiment is in Kursk and simultaneusly also somewhere in Zaporizhzhia.
Could it be that there was some sort of rotation gone totally wrong? If so, Ukraine might be able to advance further before russia wakes up.
Does anyone know if they have enough man power to build up the logistics behind? From the beginning of the war, we know it’s the most important.
There’s no way they’re that far. Really? If this is true… Just wow.
Russia is all in, relying on fact that Ukr would not dare to cross the border, so why bother with defence. I think zero reserves or rus equipment anywhere past the front ?
Well let’s see if the AFU can pull off a thunderrun to the NPP
I mean, are we even sure it’s not just russians panicking and shooting at other russians, they already bombed themselves so…
I’m not convinced the NPP is the main goal, but if it makes orks retreat in order to try and save it, thats surely not a bad thing.
From what i hear, orks are barely holding in Kharkiv already, if that breaks too, People’s Kursk Eepublic will be born.
Nice. This was a genial move from the AFU. Russians tried to keep the AFU on alert along the entire border, believing that the AFU can’t go over the border; only they can. Now, Russia will have to redeploy its forces from the Eastern Front to Kursk. Also, if the AFU is able to dig there down, Ukraine will have a nice negotiating position in the future.
Go to Kremlin, AFU!!!!
“AFU – coming to an oblast near you”
But, can they incite a rebellion?
Hopefully they can imitate the Germans in 1914-1917 who absolutely fukked over the czar of that period…
Ukraine should grab some Russian territory and use it for peace ‘deal’.
Idk, I feel like there is a good chance that reports about firefights tens of kilometers deep into Russia can be just nervous, poorly trained Russian soldiers shooting at each other.
This is almost certainly a SOF element that has pushed that far, great ambush country from what I’ve seen on maps and a few people ‘in the know’
Is this an exit strategy? Now Ukraine has some leverage and it could be preassuring putini.
They must have no intent on holding this territory because the further you go the harder it is to consolidate. If they have only a couple thousand guys there is no way on earth they maintain any form of defensive posture for that distance.
My guess is they are making a speed run for the NPP because there is zero chance they can hold that kind of turf for long.
Movement is also their shield. The minute this goes static they will get ground into dirt by FABs, Arty, Lancets, Kammi drones followed by meat waves.
I love this but what is to stop Russia from blocking escape routes?
My theory is that Ukrainians will simply redirect the output of the NPP to Ukraine, thus solving the problems with electricity. As a bonus, they will show the bunch of western morons that you should not be afraid to fight russia.
I was hoping to see more sideways expansion, not a long skinny probe
that’s just asking to get cut off
All the way to Moscow! Salute the Ukranian warriors once they freed Russia!
It’s not fighting, it’s a special shooty operation
Artillery range!!
Roll in heavy artillery and pound every military target in that city asap.
I’m not sure how deep Ukraine can go. Logistics is going to come into play eventually.
