Luxembourg ranks #12 on housing prices; more expensive than Los Angeles and New York. Seems like we are paying big city prices for none of the big city benefits.

As coming from Hong Kong, happy that at least the apartment in Lux is still livable and is larger than a parking lot
Would be interesting to compare this list to average salaries and minimum wage.
Surprised by Accra!
Not even a good coffee shop near by. Tell me about it. 😂
Monaco is missing from the list..
Accra, Ghana?
if you find an apartment at that price in the city good luck.
I don’t know, I think the title of the post is misleading because it’s the price per square feet *outside* of city center. The quality of life in most North American cities is pretty terrible outside city centers. Cities are very car dependant, basically no night life/restaurants, a bunch of houses that just look the same. I’d much rather live outside city center of Luxembourg than outside city center of most North American cities.
EDIT: To conclude, I guess it’s difficult to compare because of the “outside city center* wording. Might be easier to compare to European cities though.
Ah, to be fair, I feel like the quality of life we are getting here is high up there. Sure, the apartments are relatively expensive, but they are usually much better than big cities, and the salaries are good too
Are those USD figures? Appartement in Luxembourg, Luxembourg (i.e. within city limits) for 8469 USD (roughly 7,400 EUR) per square meter seems not very “up-to-date”. 9,000 to 10,000 sounds more accurate (and more for some neighbourhoods in Luxembourg)
I’m curious, what’s the benefits of big cities that we are missing?
Yeah so cool
It’s easy to hone in on one aspect, although it’s really data out of context. Luxembourg has the highest personal wages in the world, so yes, it costs more than New York… but also, the average person is earning more than they would in New York. In terms of big city benefits- can you drive to Paris, Frankfurt or Zurich, or get a €50 flight to Barcelona, Porto, Rome or London from New York? There are the benefits!
