    Ukrainian F-16 fighter jets have been spotted along the frontline in the country’s southern Kherson region, according to a Russia-installed official.

    The fourth-generation jets, provided by the West in recent weeks, were seen over the Ukrainian settlement of Kakhovka in the past two days, according to Pavlo Filipchuk, the Russian-backed head of the southern district.

  4. I stopped reading at the word Russia and thought for a second the F-16s are IN Russia, like over Kursk.

    Boy, that would have been a headline.

  8. I do find it hilarious that the F-16 is living rent free in the Russians’ heads.

  9. There are multiple ways of saying this. But first and foremost, the message is not directed at Ukrainians or their allies. And there are multiple ways to look at the messaging.

    1- it’s false, but the Russian installed official wants more resources (think of a Wagner style begging for resources)

    2- it’s also false, and it’s to scare the population and tell them Ruzzia is at war with the west now.

    3- it’s just a mistake from an incompetent Russian official and they confused it with another plane UA has. Which wouldn’t be the first time.

    4- it’s true and Ukraine is showing force by flying it.

    In any case, remember that the message is for Russians not for us.

  12. I’d say it depends on how much air defense they were able to sneak up to the border. A few early videos showed SU-25’s doing low passes. I can’t imagine we’d see those over Russian territory without something else backing them up from above.
