EU to fund €635 Million for the power cable linking Cyprus to Europe. This is great news as the cable can handle 2,000MW, while our most powerful power plant can only product 855MW of power. This might help reduce prices, and to export solar energy in the future!

The thread posted just today says that Cyprus renewable energy production is the lowest in EU. To make solar energy economically viable you need to buy energy for a bigger price. But the cable might for some reason reduce the energy price which will ruin any plans for solar energy investment on the island.
Export? This has nothing to do with Cyprus getting richer. Same as that damn casino. I don’t think anyone in Cyprus even knows the meaning of the word “invest”. It means put in money now to get more later. Someone is going to profit from this and it won’t be Cyprus.
Wasn’t gonna be a cable connecting Greece Cyprus and Egypt but ΔΕΗ had an objection?
Thats good news. There should be solar panels on every roof in Cyprus. You could sell the energy in winter to Northern Europe! Should be in the hands of the people, so that Cypriots profit and not some big energy companies.
