Hill made one of the 10 best albums ever imo, but she doesn’t exactly have a reputation as a reliable live act. I know a few people who’ve gone to see her live and I don’t think any of them will be doing it again
I need to start blaming the media for when I fuck something up.
“This morning I was watching women’s water polo while eating cheerios which necessitated the rescheduling of some of my chores, like taking out the trash. Regrettably, some media outlet’s penchant for sensationalism and clickbait headlines have seemingly created a narrative that has affected the cleanliness and odor of the kitchen portion of the house. The trust and faith I have in my intentions and my commitment to my art seem to have been overshadowed by this unfortunate portrayal.”
Not that I’m defending Ms Hill, but how was this ever going to work with Pras’ legal troubles?
Lady, you had a couple of hits a long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long long long time ago. You are notoriously cruel to your band, your fans and you are known to show up late and cancel. I really don’t care what you have to say at this point. You said all you needed to.
She did Robert Glasper dirty and she’s getting karma by the boatload.
Is it just me or are a lot of old washed up acts not able to tour like this due not just to their waining popularity, but also because of the inflated cost of touring post Covid?
I like Lauren hill and the fugees but they had like 7 hits max from 3 albums.
I don’t think I would go to a show.
She has a reputation for
A.) Showing up late
B.) Performing a lot of experimental songs that no one gives a shit about…man people just wanna hear the classics
C.) Going on these weird rants mid show about society/the industry.
Believe it or not, she might be the biggest disappointment in music history. She really was a generationally great talent who totally squandered it because of inexplicably irratic behavior and career self-destruction.
I would happily see shows like the Fugees or the Black Keys but let’s face it, ticket prices are gouging us consumers and unless you are putting on an insane show that warrants the price this is going to be the result.
Blame yourselves and your management.
So, a Jennifer Lopez then?
Just blame everyone else after you screw up for decades… we all know the truth
Ticket prices have gone from $26 in the 90’s to almost $100 today. While minimum wage has gone up less than $2 during that time.
The media isn’t to blame, the cost to go out has increased beyond her fan’s capacity.
Just shut up and make Sister Act 3.
Is that why she never shows up on time?
Do us a favor, just retire from touring – it’s the girl who cried wolf since early 2000’s
She quite literally only has herself to blame here
Miseducation is the single most overrated album ever released. Prove me wrong.
Nothing to do with her crazy statements in the last decade
Or maybe just show up on time Miss Hill
I saw her live. She was terrible. Doors we’re at 6pm, openers went on around 7:30pm. Then the openers came back out around 10pm because the crowd was pissed. Everyone knew she was going to go on that, so most people didn’t even show up until 10pm anyways. She ended up going on stage at 3am after half the crowd left. Everyone was exhausted and she wasn’t even that good. All in all, 3/10 performance.
Anyone ever listen to her Unplugged album? It is truly terrible! Her voice is in bad shape, she states that she will no longer take care of it, and-worst of all-she goes on these long rants between songs.
You can tell that she is in poor mental health and isn’t getting help.
Still has the opportunity to no-show the Euro dates. $5 says she no-shows the Euro dates.
Every concert i have looked at, i think they think people will pay that high of ticket prices? Then the concerts get cancelled. Who can afford $1200 for 2 tickets?
She was great once. At least we’ll have that.
Lauryn, gurl, get some help sis.
Didn’t even hear about it until it was cancelled lol.
Oh Lauryn, I love who you were and the music you created but having been to your tour last year, you are not who you were any more. Constantly yelling at your sound crew and stopping music to correct your back up singers. It was hard to watch and sit through the whole concert. You def still got it but please work on yourself before touring again.
It could just be that not many people care about a Fugees reunion.
Or maybe, just maybe it’s treating your fans like absolutely shit for more than 25 years?
I got to see Lauryn hill live year back. She was great. She was also late and rushed through her set. It seems like She doesn’t want to do it anymore and that’s okay, but stop with the idea of shows. She’s tarnishing her legacy with this.
There are very few acts touring where I would pay the ticket prices. Wondering if her prices were unreasonable high
I saw her in 2008 and it seemed like she was drunk and couldn’t hit any of the right notes
She wouldn’t have shown up anyway.
That can’t be true. I never even heard that she’s still touring.
Ok, but also…I didn’t even know they reunited and was “on tour” until it was cancelled.
So I’m not sure “sensationalism” is the problem. Maybe just a lack of media overall?
I feel as if I’m supposed to know who this is.
She was never gonna show up on time to any of the shows anyways. Now she just has more time to do what she was gonna do instead of showing up on time and rehearsing
Lauryn Hill’s head will always be firmly up her own ass. Amazing artist with an uncontrollable ego.
Totally the media, and not because of the decades of open disdain for live performances and disrespect towards your fans who, inexplicably, still show up for you.
Blame blame blame… always someone’s fault. What about accepting people are into other artists now, and that the venues they were supposed to play on were too big for their current fame. Self reflection is important.
