Seems like such a non issue to me, wouldn’t have made the news 10 years ago. Just give the driver a stern talking to and forget about it.
The teacher or the school principle failed to keep handicapped children in check.
“The boy was extremely restless on the bus and the person accompanying the youngsters wasn’t really able to improve the situation.” Als gij ze nie in de hand kunt houden, doe k ik het! K heb godverdomme 20 jaar schoolreizen gereden voor t beroeps. K zal t wel weten zeker. Duct tape der op en vollembak Humperdink!
What I fail to see… WHY does a BUS driver, whom delivers his bus to a technician for check up almost EVERY NIGHT… need DUCT TAPE on his bus in the first place? Cause the kid showed this behavior before? That makes it premeditated….and thus torture….
And even IF restraining him was the only way.. dit it have to be duct tape? A material that if not applied on a human correctly, could KILL a man? (Suffocation, restrained bloodflow etc.)
Hell a BELT is a safer option to restrain someone
The folks here defending duct taping a child are showing their true colours. I hope yall don’t have access to children.
I’ve worked in troubled youth care in a group which consisted of youth of similar age. I got out a few years ago due to, among other things, frequent agression.
I’m not gonna lie; sometimes I felt like I just wanted to grab one of them by the shoulders, and shake him/her while screaming in their face. Or felt like, as they say in Dutch “Er ene achter het behang plakken”.
I think that’s a very human thought to have when you’re being mistreated on the regular.
***THAT BEING SAID:***
Never, under any circumstances, have I even gotten close to actually doing anything of the sort.
Unless your wellbeing, or that of others is being directly threatened, it is a reprehensible, morally devoid thing to do.
Everything really depends on knowing what the kid actually did in the first place before we can judge the actions of the busdriver as disproportionate or not.
Let’s also not overlook the apparent inability of the accompanying adult to make any difference at all; dealing with this stuff is their responsibility in the first place.
Speciale tijden.
